Feeling like This NBA season is among the most anticipated yet, up there with 1995-96

Story from NPR.com
LeBron James is back in Boston, where his NBA championship quest ended twice in the last three years.
The former Cleveland superstar was practicing at the TD Garden with his new team, the Miami Heat, in preparation for Tuesday night's NBA opener against the Celtics. James did not talk to the media, but when a dozen cameras surrounded him to film him icing his right knee, he said he felt like he was in a fishbowl.
Boston knocked James and the Cavaliers out of the playoffs on its way to the 2008 NBA title, and again last year. The Celtics also eliminated the Heat last spring, setting them on their rebuilding path.
The Heat signed James and Chris Bosh as free agents to play along with Dwyane Wade, creating a superteam and expectations of winning a championship.

Please Pray for Haiti , Cholera is spreading

Story from Cnn

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti  -- It should be possible to keep an outbreak of cholera out of Haiti's capital, but the potentially deadly disease remains a major risk, an international aid worker told CNN on Monday.

"I think we'll be able to contain it fairly well, but it is a risk, it is a major risk," said Jason Erb, deputy country director for the International Medical Corps.
The fast-moving outbreak has claimed at least 253 lives on the impoverished island nation, which has yet to recover from January's massive earthquake. Another 3,015 cases have been reported, according to Haiti's Health Ministry.

Even if the disease can be kept out of the capital, Port-au-Prince, it remains a serious risk in the tent camps that remain home to tens of thousands of earthquake survivors, Erb warned.
"It's a danger because the camps are so crowded and so unhygienic," he said on CNN's "American Morning."
A small number of cases have been reported in Port-au-Prince, but Erb said they seem to be the result of people carrying the disease from the camps -- not from contaminated water in the capital.
And he cautioned against panic.

"You have to have quite a few people to contaminate a body of water," he said. "It's not just going to be one or two cases. That's going to be quite controllable. It's not good ... but it's not going to lead to a massive outbreak."

There is "an awful lot of monitoring" for the disease, he said, and "cases generally don't go unnoticed."
Five patients in Port-au-Prince were infected north of the city in Artibonite, said Imogen Wall, spokeswoman for the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Haiti.

Energy Drinks : Are they hazardous to your health?

Sometimes when you are living a busy lifestyle, have long days , and constantly running around. You often turn to energy drinks and coffee. I am definitely one of those people who love Red bulls. My ever-loving red bull streak ended yesterday. I was forced to go to the doctor because my heart was racing for days. My heart rate was  alot faster than an average 25 year old , this may been cause by often drinking red bulls and stress.

With that said , Are Energy Drinks hazardous to your health???

Caffeinated energy drinks that promise super alertness -- and sometimes imply better sports performance -- should carry labels that specify their amount of caffeine, says a Johns Hopkins University scientist.
Drinks with the highest caffeine content should also warn of potential health dangers, says Roland Griffiths, PhD, a professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, and senior author of a new report on the beverages.
The industry begs to differ, with spokespeople pointing out that most "mainstream" energy drinks contain the same amount of caffeine, or even less, than you'd get in a cup of brewed coffee. If labels listing caffeine content are required on energy drinks, they should also be required on coffeehouse coffee, says Maureen Storey, PhD, a spokeswoman for the American Beverage Association.

Since Red Bull, the first energy drink to hit the U.S. market, launched in 1997, the market has boomed, Griffiths says, now totaling at least $5.4 billion a year in the U.S. Hundreds of brands are available.

Although the FDA limits the caffeine contents of cola-type soft drinks to 71 milligrams per 12 fluid ounces, no such limit is required on energy drinks, Griffiths tells WebMD.
"Makers of so-called "energy" drinks generally market them as dietary supplements," says Siobhan DeLancey, an FDA spokesperson. Dietary supplements are regulated differently than food. The FDA does not approve or review the products before they are marketed.
Energy drinks are popular with teens and young adults, Griffiths found in his research. In a 2007 survey of 496 college students, 51% said they had consumed at least one energy drink during the past month.
Bad reactions to energy drinks have been reported to U.S. poison control centers, Griffiths writes in the report, published in the journal Drug and Alcohol Dependence. From 2002 to 2004, he says, 41 cases of caffeine abuse from caffeine-enhanced beverages were reported.
In a report of nine cases of adverse reactions to the energy drink Redline, the patients reported nausea and vomiting, high blood pressure, tremors, dizziness, and numbness.
Data also suggest those who drink the energy drinks may combine them with alcohol, Griffiths tells WebMD. In the college student survey, 27% said they mixed alcohol and energy drinks at least once in the past month. One danger to that: Users may feel alert enough to drive, even if they are
inebriated.

Most Energy drinks contained large amounts of caffeine.

Hidden" caffeine is a growing danger, say scientists at the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), a nonprofit health advocacy organization. In 1997, the CSPI petitioned the FDA to label the caffeine content of foods, noting that the amount of caffeine varies widely among food products.

Some experts say, especially as caffeine shows up in more products and in higher amounts. Soda sizes have gotten larger, the amount of caffeine in the so-called energy drinks has increased, and dietary supplements for weight loss often include caffeine.
The problem may be particularly prevalent among young people, according to a team of researchers from Northwestern University in Chicago. When they tracked calls to the Illinois Poison Center in Chicago for three years, they found that more than 250 cases of medical complications occurred from ingesting caffeine supplements and that 12% of the callers had to be hospitalized. The average age of the callers was 21. The researchers reported their findings at the annual meeting of the American College of Emergency Physicians in New Orleans.
"There are quite a few new energy drinks, and diet pills often use caffeine," says study researcher Danielle McCarthy, MD, a resident at Northwestern University. Often, she says, a doctor may not think to ask about these products when taking a medical history. Those who were hospitalized often had consumed other pharmaceutical products along with too much caffeine. Caffeine abuse symptoms include insomnia, tremors, nausea, vomiting, chest pains, and palpitations, among others, McCarthy says.

Are you looking forward to Jay-z New Book " Decoded"? , Jay-z New partnership with Bing

Jay-z New book " Decoded" will feature some of his career-changing rhymes and the meaning behind it. His book will hit shelves on November 16. Jay-z gave  MTV News a behind the scenes story on how he cultivated these lyrics. Many songs were selected from "PSA" and from 2003's "The Black Album"

Also Rapper and music mogul Jay-Z made his way to the posh Delano hotel in Miami Beach on Wednesday (October 20) evening to reveal his partnership with the Microsoft search engine Bing in support of his upcoming memoir "Decoded." The event, which brought out everyone from reporters from the Miami Herald and members of the Miami Dolphins to Jay's wife Beyoncé, was capped by a special unveiling of Jay's next "clue" with the lyrics to his popular hit "Big Pimpin' " laid out across the hotel's back pool area.

Jay-z said he personally chose each of the songs featured in "Decoded" for several reasons, and "PSA" made the tome because of its unique origin. Bars from the second verse of the Just Blaze-helmed track were penned after a journalist interpreted the symbolism she picked out in one of Jay's outfits. However, Hov thought the scribe's analysis of his look was a bit of a reach.

"The second verse of 'PSA' may not have that many hidden jewels in [it], but the story behind why I wrote the second verse is pretty interesting. It's sort of that look on rap, how this writer had written this article about me wearing this Che Guevara shirt [with a] Jesus piece, and she was like, 'The Jesus piece is hitting his head,' and I was like, 'You're going a little too far. It's a T-shirt and a chain. It's not literally hitting his forehead,' " he recalled. "That [experience] inspired the entire verse. 'I'm like Che Guevara with bling on, I'm complex.' It's the whole entire story of how and why I came to write that second verse on 'PSA.' "

In addition to pulling the curtain back on some of his famed rhymes, Hov said he hopes the volume as a whole will demonstrate the artistry of hip-hop and show that it's not just a bunch of dudes throwing around bawdy rhymes.
"I think, more so than anything, just to explain or to let people realize who just listen to rap [like] 'Let's browse through it,' to show people the depth in rap and its poetry," Jay-Z said. "[I want to show] that rap is really poetry; it's not just a bunch of guys putting rhyming words together. There's thought behind it and there's cleverness and there's inspiration. There's social reason and there's political reason and there's angst and there's anger and all these different things inside music."
